Working with type as a design element:

Letterforms.

The examples below demonstrate various approaches to using type / typographic elements to create standalone designs that are not concerned with conveying any particular message. In the coursework exercises that introduce this unit on ‘Publications’, the focus is on working with formal visual elements such as placement, scale, transparency / opacity, colour, tone, form etc to create an effective composition.

Don’t forget that to apply certain transformations to your type elements in Photoshop, you will have to rasterize individual layers.
