Below is a list of common terms that make a regular appearance in Section 2 of HSC Exam papers.

Getting to know these will be beneficial. This will help you better understand the demands of the question.

  • Examine: to look at, inspect, or scrutinize carefully or in detail; investigate, to look at something very closely and usually with the purpose of making a judgment, suggests a scrutiny in order to determine the nature, condition, or quality of a thing.
  • Discuss: talk or write about (a topic) in detail, taking into account different issues or ideas, to consider or examine by argument, involves close examination of a subject with interchange of opinions, to ​talk or write about a ​subject in ​detail, ​especially ​considering different ​ideas and ​opinions ​related to it:
  • Explore: to look into closely, scrutinize, examine, to ​think about something in ​order to ​find out more about it, Inquire into or discuss (a subject) in detail.
     
  • Explain: make (an idea or situation) clear to someone by describing it in more detail or revealing relevant facts.to make plain or clear; render understandable or intelligible, to make known in detail, to make clear the cause or reason of; account for.
