1The purpose of this page is to give you an overview of the Visual Arts course at Wyndham and to provide links to relevant content.


In 2016 we continue to offer a diverse range of creative learning opportunities for students to explore the art world through courses in Visual Arts, Visual Design and Photography.

HSC graduating student projects are referred to as Bodies of Work or Portfolio’s and these are submitted by all students in courses as part of the HSC  assessment process. Documented HSC submissions of Year 12 Visual Arts students are currently available for viewing and/or purchase at Blurb.com.au

Some of the major achievements of students from the faculty were:

2015

  • V-Fest Film Festival Rose Bay; Daniel Needham won the Peoples Choice Award ahead of 120 entrants.
  • The annual celebration HSC Visual Arts Breakfast in the College Library continued to be a popular and well attended event with over 250 people from the Wyndham Community and Nirimba Collegiate in attendance, recognising student achievement in the arts.
  • Six Visual Art students had their HSC submissions held back as part of the 2015 ArtExpess pre-selection process:

2014

2013

  • Six Visual Arts students were recognised for their outstanding Body of Works in gaining selection for “Art Express” to be exhibited in 2014 at venues across NSW: The Art Gallery of NSW,  “The Armory” exhibition space at Sydney Olympic Park, Wollongong Art Gallery, University of Western Sydney – Margaret Whitlam Gallery, Tweed River Gallery, Glasshouse Regional Art Gallery (Port Macquarie), McGlade gallery – Australian Catholic University and Maitland Regional Art Gallery.  The students were: Divya Kerai, Kwame Odoom, Jessica Hodge, Nadia Krygsman, Clare Molnar and Wail Rudan. Mehmet Mevlutoglu also had his HSC artwork pre-selected for “Art Express”. With a small number selected from nearly 10,000 students state-wide, this is a significant achievement from the students at Wyndham College.
  • Fifty six students completed HSC Visual Arts with nearly all students improving upon their School Certificate combined marks. Visual Arts also achieved 4 outstanding Band 6 results and 21 students also attaining excellent Band 5 results. The students attaining Band 6 were: Mehmet Mevlutoglu, Kwame Odoom, Clare Molnar and Jacob Bradley.
  • The annual celebration HSC Visual Arts Breakfast in the College Library continued to be a popular and well attended event with over 300 people from the Wyndham Community and Nirimba Collegiate in attendance, recognising student achievement in the arts.
  • The successes of our students in recent years was recognised by Canon Australia who in collaboration with our Visual Arts staff and students embarked on a series of short educational films showcasing our outstanding student photographic work
  • Ethan Smart gained 1st prize in the “Super Short” division of the prestigious Robin Anderson Film Awards
  • Students specializing in Photography entered the Moran Photographic Prize with Jordan Walcott and Angel Adams being recognized and exhibited as finalists.
  • Travis Holmes from our Support class won the Lend Lease Barangaroo Schools Art Prize
  • Valuable experiences for students continued to be offered in 2013 with field trips and excursions to The Arthur Boyd Studio at Bundanon (Nowra), Far North Queensland – The Great Barrier Reef and Cairns as well as The Art Gallery of NSW, The Museum of Contemporary Art, “Sculpture by the Sea”, Museum of Sydney, The State Library and Cockatoo Island.

 


Visual Art, Photography and Design students have access to the college darkroom and two Mac labs (20 iMac’s) with Adobe Creative Cloud and Lightroom 6.
